In tonight’s 9-1-1 Lone Star episode, Owen was a great fire captain. He just wasn’t a great spy. He got caught on literally the first day he tried to spy on a biker gang and luckily for him, it had been Sergeant Ty O’Brien that caught him. O’Brien was one of the Honor Dogs.
Owen thought that to mean that he also was a neo-Nazi. Only he wasn’t. O’Brien joined the group because he was looking for his nephew. His nephew joined the Honor Dogs about a year ago. He thought he was just getting a supportive group of friends and then they started asking him to do things. And the last anyone heard of Andy, he was telling his family not to look for him.
Andy has a wife. He has a son. He just up and disappeared and no one knew why. O’Brien believes the Honor Dogs knew what happened to his nephew. He joined them to investigate them. He wasn’t looking to make a case or to bring down the whole organization. He just wants his nephew back. His sister got pregnant young and she single-handedly raised Andy until she died when he was sixteen. O’Brien now feels responsible for Andy. He’s been looking after him since he was a kid. He thought his nephew got in over his head with the biker gang and that he needed a way out.
O’Brien didn’t tell anyone about what he was doing. None of his bosses know that he infiltrated the biker gang or that his nephew was even missing. O’Brien was keeping this within the family. Or he was until he saw Owen stumbling into the Honor Dogs. O’Brien showed Owen why he was talking to those Nazis and he protected Owen’s cover. He also warned Owen to stay away from those guys. They were dangerous. Owen couldn’t handle that group while O’Brien could. O’Brien asked Owen if he was going to keep looking into the Honor Dogs he had to keep his name out of the investigation.
O’Brien didn’t want anyone to know he was looking for Andy. Owen understood where he was coming from after they talked and after he got to meet Andy’s family. He said he’d keep O’Brien out of it. But the FBI was sniffing around. They wanted Owen to go back to the biker bar. They wanted to plant a wire. He couldn’t do that because he knows now that there were cameras all over the place. He found out thanks to O’Brien. Owen naturally stalled with the FBI and as he was stalling he continued to work his actual job.
Owen and his team got called to a scene of a woman falling off a cliff. Her boyfriend called it in. He said it was an accident. They later arrived at the scene to find Carlos there. Carlos said there was a report of this woman’s boyfriend pushing her off the cliff as a witness and so Carlos was afraid the woman was Iris. He found out that TK saw Iris behind his back about the divorce. He was worried that he pushed her too hard about it because Iris went missing later that day. Carlos blamed TK for Iris going missing. He didn’t even want to talk to him at the scene at the cliff because he was still angry with him.
Only it wasn’t Iris that fell off the cliff. It was Chrissy. Chrissy was a sex doll. Her “boyfriend” was suffering from mental issues and he thought she was real, but he’s been in therapy. His therapist convinced him to let go of the doll. Which was why he tried to ditch it. He felt bad about what he did because he thought he killed her and so that’s why he called 911. Owen felt bad for the guy. He pretended to try and rescue Chrissy and sadly she did not make it. Owen shared some kind words with the people who loved her like he would any other job. And that put the guy in a good place.
During the day, Owen accidentally turned on the listening device. O’Brien had given it back to him and Owen had put it in his pocket. It turned on in his pocket. The FBI found out Owen still had it. They asked him to come in where they later questioned him about the device. This time they showed him how to turn it on. They also asked him to plant the device with the bikers. Owen couldn’t do it alone and so he turned to O’Brien. He asked O’Brien for help in planting a device. O’Brien told him it would be a waste at the bar.
The bikers didn’t do business there. They went to a place known as “the Farm”. O’Brien hasn’t been invited there yet. He said only those with the brand can be invited and neither of them had that and so Owen got an idea. Owen was tricking a member to take him to this farm while the search for Iris finally yielded some results. Iris called 911. She said she was being held prisoner by someone she met at the homeless encampment. She said that he had a knife. She was using his phone because he was asleep and she didn’t know where she was because he drove her somewhere.
Grace had been the one to take the call. She was able to map a location from that homeless encampment and she called in the tactical team to go rescue, Iris. Carlos went along. They raced there. They were looking through all the abandoned houses when Iris hangs up on Grace because she said her kidnapper had woken up. Austin police heard her scream. They went rushing into the house where the scream came from. They found Iris with a nasty wound to her head and no signs of the kidnapper.
In fact, there was nothing proving the kidnapper was real. The cops had drones in the air and the drones indicated that no one left that house in the time it took the police to find her. Only Iris swears she was kidnapped. She swears that a man took her hostage. She said that she’s been taking her medication. She said it was unfair for people to doubt her just because she has a mental illness. And so Carlos checked up on her story.
Carlos skipped game night with his friends and fiancé because he went back to that house. He found a trap door that hid an underground tunnel. He followed until he came out in a different house and that’s when he got knocked out from behind.
Iris had been telling the truth.
And Owen was lied to. Owen went to the farm where he found the ammonium nitrate. He then met up with the FBI and told them about it. They got a warrant. They raided the farm. They didn’t find the bomb-making material. If anything, they believe that Owen got played. They found out O’Brien had been helping Owen. Which was odd for them because O’Brien was a founding member of the Honor Dogs. Something he failed to mention to Owen and so now the FBI says they can’t use Owen because he’s been discredited.
THE END!
