Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has been fighting hard after reports surfaced regarding a Facebook group for Homeland Security, where Border Patrol agents were reportedly frequently posting memes involving her own rape.
Ocasio-Cortez asked Homeland Security head Kevin McAleenan whether he was aware of the existence of the group, which had allegedly existed for around three years, and was kept secret until now.
She said: “Did you see the images of officers circulating Photoshopped images of my violent rape?”
AOC added: “Are those officers on the job today and responsible for the safety of migrant women and children?”
McAleenan responded in a cryptic manner, pointing out that he was aware of an article which described the existence of the group. He then admitted to having seen some of the posts in the group himself.
Ocasio-Cortez specifically asked him whether he had seen any of the posts threatening harm to her or other congresswomen.
And according to McAleenan, he had not only seen such posts but had even requested an investigation into them afterward.
He explained: “We’ve already put individuals on administrative duties; I don’t know which ones corresponded to which post.”
AOC, who was not finished, said: “Do you think that the policy of child separation could have contributed to a dehumanizing culture within CBP that contributes and kind of spills over to other areas of conduct?”
The fiery Democrat from New York added: “So you don’t think having 10,000 officers in a violent, racist group sharing rape memes of members of Congress points to any concern of a dehumanized culture?”
The interrogation went on in a similar manner, with McAleenan growing visibly more and more uncomfortable through the whole ordeal.
It is not clear what his exact position may be in the current situation, though many have voiced their doubt over some of his statements, particularly the ones where he claims to have triggered an investigation into the posts.
The “rape memes” about Ocasio-Cortez have been a heavily discussed topic around her ever since the existence of the Facebook group was made public.

The politician seems to be using the situation to her full advantage as well, grilling people who were involved and trying to get to the bottom of things, while also attempting to hold the right people responsible.
