He had an illustrious player as well representing the last 2 of those clubs throughout his career with distinction. With R.S.C. Anderlecht, he had won the Belgian First Division title thrice (1971–72, 1973–74, 1980–81), the Belgian Cup 4 times (1971–72, 1972–73, 1974–75, 1975–76), the Belgian League Cup twice (1973, 1974), the European Cup Winners’ Cup twice (1975–76, 1977–78), the European Super Cup twice (1976, 1978), and the UEFA Cup (1982–83).

In 1978, he was honored with the ‘Belgian National Sports Merit Award’, an annual award handed out to a Belgian sportsperson/team for exceptional merit. An individual sportsperson can only win the award once during his/her career, making this one of the most prestigious awards in Belgian sport.
