Ted Cruz is a Canadian-American politician with an estimated net worth of $3.5 million. Born on December 22, 1970 to Eleanor and Wilson Cruz, he was raised in Alberta, Canada some of his childhood. His parents were in the oil business, and they owned their own seismic data processing company utilized by oil drilling companies. They taught their son the value of hard work and a dollar, and they were both geniuses in the field. His father left when Ted Cruz was only 4 and moved to Texas, but his parents later decided that they wanted to be together after all and they made the decision to move to Texas together. Neither of his parents are actually Canadian; his father is from Cuba and his mother from Delaware.

Most of Ted Cruz’s childhood was spent in Texas. He attended private schools in Katy and Houston, and he graduated from the Second Baptist High School in Houston in 1988 as the valedictorian of his graduating class. Always an academic, he took after his parents as far as his intelligence is concerned. He spent his time involved in programs that taught philosophy and economics even when he was in high school. His college career was spent at Princeton, and he learned a lot there throughout his years. He graduated with a B.A. in public policy and spent much of his time on the debate panel.

Following his time at Princeton, Cruz moved onto Harvard where he attended law school. He was the editor of the Harvard Law Review, the executive editor of the Harvard Journal of Law and Public Policy and he was the founder of the Harvard Latino Law Review among several other ventures, such as his ability to perform well on the debate team and many other various programs. His former professors consider him brilliant.

Ted Cruz did not really begin his political career until he joined the Bush Administration in 1999. Before then, he practiced law, had his own private firm and was earning his net income in this manner. He became a domestic policy advisor, and then became an associate deputy attorney general in the U.S. Justice Department. He was also given the role of the U.S. Federal Trade Commission’s director of policy planning.

In 2012, Ted Cruz was elected to the Senate. He made it well-known within his first year there that he would run for president in the 2016 election. He met his wife when they both worked for the Bush Administration in 200, married in 2001 and together they have two daughters. Their children were born in 2008 and 2011. He identifies himself as a Southern Baptist despite being raised as a Cuban/Irish/Italian. Most of all of Cruz’s net worth is from his law practice, his political career and even his wife’s career as the head of the Southwest Region of Goldman Sachs. Together, they have become quite successful and they hope to take over the White House in 2017, though that remains to be seen.
